Provision of information by Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA)

You are encouraged to use and re-use the Information that is available under this licence provided the following conditions and Annex 1 are fulfilled.

Using Information under this licence.

The use of the material made available under this licence (hereinafter referred to as the “Information”) indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions below.

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) grants you a perpetual licence to use the information anywhere you want free of charge and grants a non-exclusive licence to use the Information subject to the conditions below.

This licence does not encroach upon users’ rights under Section 2 of Copyright Act no. 73/1972 regarding copyright restrictions.

You are licensed to:

  • copy, publish, distribute and transmit the Information,
  • adapt the Information and
  • exploit the Information commercially by, for example, combining it with other Information, or by including it in your own product or application.

When you do any of the above, you must:

  • Acknowledge that the source of the Information is the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) with the following text: Based on information provided by the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA). Reference shall also be made to this licence when applicable.

 

Ensure that:

  • You do not use Information in a way that suggests any official status or that the Information Provider specifically endorses you or your use of the Information;
  • You do not misinform anyone or publish information or quote their origin in a misleading or erroneous manner;
  • Your use of the information does not violate Act no.77/2000 on Data Protection and the Handling of Personal Information or Article no.6 of the Information Act regarding material exempted from the public right to information.

If you do not comply with these terms your rights under this licence are automatically revoked.

Exemptions.

This licence does not cover:

  • Personal information;
  • public sector organisation logos or coats of arms unless they can be considered an important part of the file or database;
  • third party rights, which the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) is not authorised to grant under this licence.

 No warranty

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) is excluded from all representations, warranties, obligations and liabilities in relation to the Information to the extent permitted by law.

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration is not liable for any errors or omissions in the Information and shall not be liable for any loss, injury or damage of any kind caused by its use. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) does not guarantee the continued supply of the Information.

Governing law

This licence is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Information Provider has its principal place of business, unless otherwise specified by the Information Provider.

Definitions

In this licence, the terms below have the following meanings:

 “information”

means information protected by copyright or by database rights (for example, literary and artistic works, content, data and source code) offered for use under the terms of this licence.

 “Use”

As a verb means doing any act which is protected by copyright or database rights, whether in the original medium or in any other medium, and includes without limitation distributing, copying, adapting, modifying as may be technically necessary to use it in a different mode or format.

 “You”

means the natural or legal person, or group of persons acquiring rights under this licence.

Annex 1

Due to measures taken by the Icelandic government to prevent off-road driving and to limit or prevent traffic in certain areas of the country, the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration would like to point out that the users of the provided information are personally responsible for ascertaining if and when certain roads and tracks are temporarily or fully closed to public traffic. These government measures always extend further than the information on road and tracks provided in the database of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration in each case.

You will be granted access to information on the web services of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration database by agreeing to the above terms of use.
