The IRCA is divided into a central office, located in Garðabær, and five regions. Each region carries out construction, maintenance, and operation of the road system, as well as providing travellers with services and information within their assigned region.
The Southern Region is responsible for maintenance and operations for the Greater Reykjavík Area.

Organisation
The IRCA has centres of operation at 18 locations throughout the country. The IRCA’s headquarters are located at Suðurhraun 3 in Garðabær. Regional centres can be found at five locations and service stations at 18 locations. In addition, Garðabær and Ísafjörður operate watch stations, and the traffic service (1777) is operated in Ísafjörður.
The IRCA divides the country into the Southern Region, Western Region, Northern Region, Eastern Region, and the Greater Reykjavik Area.
