Senior Management is responsible for making strategic decisions on policy and the overall direction of institutional management. It addresses matters that span across divisions, functional areas, and departments, ensuring alignment and coordination throughout the organization. In addition, Senior Management plays a key role in setting priorities, allocating resources, and overseeing the effective implementation of policies and initiatives.

Senior management

The Executive Committee, consisting of Senior Management and area managers, contributes to the development of institutional policy and the long-term vision of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA). It serves as a forum for coordination and consultation, supporting informed decision-making and cross-organizational alignment. The Committee also ensures that decisions and resolutions made by Senior Management and the Government are effectively implemented across all areas of the institution’s operations, and that progress is monitored in a structured and consistent manner.

Senior Management makes decisions on policy regarding institutional management, and handles issues that apply across divisions, areas, and departments. Senior Management makes decisions regarding the institution’s operating plan whilst also processing enquiries and projects the IRCA receives, following a further decision made by the CEO.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee, consisting of Senior Management and area managers, is involved in formulating the policy and future vision of the IRCA whilst ensuring that the resolutions reached by Senior Management and the Government are executed in all of the institution’s operations. The Executive Committee is responsible for coordinating construction, maintenance and services throughout the country, and follows through on decisions pertaining to operations within the current road plan.
