The IRCA oversees the operation of public transport in rural areas via air travel, ferries, and public buses.
The IRCA is also responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of public transport, with subsequent analysis on how people use the available services.
The IRCA’s goal is for the Icelandic transport system to be able to form one whole, serving both inhabitants and industry in the best possible manner, irrespective of which transportation mode is utilized.
