Public meeting on Sundabraut draws large crowd

There was a large turnout at a public information meeting in Laugardalur yesterday, where the newly released Environmental Impact Assessment for the construction of Sundabraut and the draft amendment to Reykjavík’s master plan were presented and discussed.

Guðmundur Valur Guðmundsson, representative of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration and chairman of the Sundabraut project management team, presented the project and the contents of the Environmental Impact Assessment report at the meeting. Andri Gunnarsson and Ragnhildur Gunnarsdóttir from the engineering firm EFLA, which serves as a consultant for the assessment, discussed road connections and specific aspects of the environmental analysis. Haraldur Sigurðsson, head of the master planning department at Reykjavík City’s Environment and Planning Division, reviewed how the project aligns with the city’s master plan.

A total of three public meetings on Sundabraut will be held in Reykjavík to present the results of the Environmental Impact Assessment and the draft amendment to the city’s master plan.
