The rural public bus service will, as it has done in recent years, offer service between Reykjavík and Landeyjahöfn for the duration of the Þjóðhátíð festival, held in the Westman Islands, Iceland’s biggest yearly festival.
Routes 51 and 53 will operate on a special festival plan. Further information on routing and timetables can be found on the Strætó website.
Route 51 (Mjódd – Selfoss), along with Route 53 (Selfoss – Landeyjahöfn) will operate supplemental trips over the Commerce Day weekend due to the Þjóðhátíð festival in the Westman Islands, from July 30th, to August 3rd, 2026.
The trip can be paid for on board the bus with credit, or debit card, as well as cash. No reservations can be made for seating.

Please not that, in most cases, the same bus will continue onwards from route 51 (Mjódd – Selfoss) to route 53 (Selfoss – Landeyjahöfn). A sign will be present in the front window of the bus which will inform travellers on whether or not they must switch buses.
