The new bridge over Breiðholtsbraut has now been made open to the public. Traffic flow was diverted over the bridge on the eve of July 10th, with no issues reported, and the bridge saw its first car cross in the early hours of the morning. There is still, however, significant construction around the area, and drivers are instructed to drive safely.

The new bridge has been pressed into service.
The intersection between Breiðholtsbraut and Vatnsendahvarf has now been closed to traffic, as it will enter into a redesign process, before opening once more in September.
This November, plans are in place to open the new stretch of Arnarnesvegur, between Rjúpnavegur and Breiðholtsbraut.
Drivers are instructed to drive to and from Vatnsendahvarf through Vatnsendavegur, use the new roundabout by Arnarnesvegur, leading towards the bridge, cross the bridge before entering the new intersection of Arnarnesvegur and Breiðholtsbraut.
This is a major project milestone in relation to the Arnarnesvegur extension, mentioned above.
